The Christian writer…

Jeffrey just posted a Flannery O’Conner quote on his blog that I find myself agreeing with more and more strongly the more time I spend “working out my own salvation with fear and trembling” through my writing:

“The Christian writer does not decide what would be good for the world and proceed to deliver it. Like a very doubtful Jacob, he confronts what stands in his path and wonders if he will come out of the struggle at all.”

Thanks for that quote Stephen. Very timely, considering some of the stuff I’m enduring with my novel. Btw, big Guinness fan here too. I’m going to try those others you suggested.

You’re welcome, Seth. And I’m looking forward to reading your novel!

Well, I’m probably going to take a pen name so I’ll send an email when and if it gets published. Turns out, when I cut loose, I can write some bawdy scenes. I’m not sure the church is going to be too hip on it. And people who are accustomed to my blog and “ministry” might be left dillusional after about 4 chapters. Some will but some won’t. Whatever the case, a few agents are biting so the idea can’t totally suck!

    I wish Guinness wasn’t so expensive…

Seth, my brother gave me a button he found a couple months ago that says “Life is too short to drink cheap beer.” Tis a point that I heartily agree with.
