Nothing like it…

Posted on Wednesday 22 August 2007

When I listen to music, more often than not I am thinking of how I would orchestrate the song, if given the chance. But since most of the work I’m doing now is in music preparation, that usually stays in my head. So it was a lot of fun this past Thursday to stand in front of a 10 piece string section composed of Nashville’s finest players, conducting two charts I wrote. The first was a string arrangement for a new song, “I Don’t Know”, and the second chart was for The Temptations classic “My Girl”. Larry Butler, the only Grammy-award-winning “Producer of the Year” out of Nashville (who has worked with Johnny Cash, John Denver, and Kenny Rogers, to name a few), was producing, and the artist was Will Hedgecock, a young singer with a great voice. The project is being mixed this week, so it should be out later this year. I’ll post the details here when I hear them.

Interesting — when I listen to music, more often than not I am thinking of how I would play the drums on the song. Seriously.

Sounds like you’re working on some amazing and fun projects!
